“Free” Credit Reports reformed

“Free” Credit Cards now face the possibility of being free. To bring around reforms on advertisements bringing in customers under false pretences, the Federal Trade Commission orders Credit Bureaus to state in their advertisements that the approved site for credit reports is annualcreditreport.com only.

The bill passed is to prevent companies from hoodwinking customers into taking “free” credit reports by misleading them with mass media ads that grab customers with promises of “free” credit reports. The FTC said “Consumers were duped into monthly fees for credit monitoring and other services that many didn’t want or didn’t know they were signing up for.”

John Ulzheimer said customers keep enquiring “Why am I being charged when all I wanted was a free credit report? It’s either because t

PG’s Business Credit Cards and Removing the PG.

If you read the title and you do not know that PG means Personal Guarantee, and you are not certain what it means, you need to start with the business credit basics.

A PG is where you apply for a business credit card but you accept personal liability for the account in the event that the corporation cannot pay the debt. A couple years ago, there was the notion of removing the pg from the account after 6 months. This notion was being promoted over and over by many of the business credit gurus out there. This is only partially true.

No more “Free” Credit Reports

Websites offering free credit reports can no longer enroll people in their schemes under false pretences. Now websites are required to give more clarity to consumers by the law.

Credit Bureaus now are compelled by the law to show a warning tag stating that the free credit report which consumers are entitled to by law is not the same free credit report marketed by the company, under the new CARD Act of 2009.

According to The Federal Trade Commission, free credit reports are available only at www.annualcreditreport.com and consumers can receive one free credit report per year from all of the three major bureaus, Experian, Equifax and TransUnion.

“Consumers will think they’re getting a report under the law, but will unknowingly get credit monitoring and other services they didn’t ask for and then be charged fees for them.” said Tiffany George, an attorney for FTC

What is a Shelf Corporation and what should I expect in 2010?

I know that answering this question “What is a shelf corporation” at this stage of the game is late but I get new readers all the time, and I have yet to define a Shelf Corporation on my blog and touch on what is expected in these new times.

A shelf corporation is a corporation that has been put on the “shelf” to age. Typically, this corporation has not done any business previously and simply is there gaining age. In these more sophisticated times, myself and other shelf corp brokers, not all sell shelf corporations, but we also sell aged corporations. Aged corporations are not necessarily just on the shelf sitting there but they may be actually in business. This type of corporation is valuable once all previous debt has been paid off on time. This happens in a case where someone started a business and it did not work out but they paid their bills on time but could not generate revenue. Getting y
