Jane Baker of lovemoney.com says that the new Barclaycard Platinum Credit Card could help Britons to ease their debt problems.
A personal finance expert has advised Britons to consider taking out the new balance transfer credit card from Barclays.
Jane Baker of lovemoney.com has insisted that the bank’s zero per cent balance transfer credit card could help consumers to ease their debt burden.
The Barclaycard Platinum Credit Card offers 15-month interest-free credit to consumers and, unlike the majority of credit cards in the UK market, Barclays’ latest product also boasts a zero per cent introductory period.
Further to this, Barclaycard Platinum only charges 2.9 per cent for the right to transfer your balance.
However, consumers have been warned that while Barclaycard Platinum offers a zero per cent introductory period on purchases for three months, there are more attractive offers to be found elsewhere.
For instance, Ms Baker states that the “Clubcard Credit Card from Tesco offers a far better zero per cent deal which lasts for a year”.
She added: “Savvy cardholders will make sure they don’t use a zero per cent card for balance transfers and spending.
“If you need a zero per cent card for purchases, consider applying for the Tesco Clubcard Credit Card as well as Barclaycard Platinum.”
Meanwhile, research by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) in Scotland recently revealed that the economic downturn impacted on small business owners so badly that many are relying on their own credit cards to keep their companies afloat.
The study suggests that 22 per cent of bosses have used their personal credit cards to support their firms in the last year.
